Day 89: March 29, 2017

I will be at a work conference for the next week, so no writing, no real updates. (I’m writing this after the fact.)

If some great thought comes to my mind, I’ll not it.

Day 50: February 19, 2017

We got a few people from the old country band together today, played some standards, and gave my step father a chance to sing a few last songs. Though he’s getting hard to understand, he had lots of great conversations.

His breathing became more labored and his speech even worse. But we have the hospital bed setup so he can look out the front bay windows on the farm, his new F-150 parked in the yard so he can see that too.

At the end of the day, with pghlegm building up in his throat, we gave some Dilaudid. That helped both with breathing and in calming him. He ended a long, enjoyable day relaxed. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
